The results of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) were released on 18th December 2014. The Centre for Education Studies formed a key part of the University's submission to the Education Unit of Assessment, alongside the Centre for Applied Linguistics and the Centre for Educational Development, Appraisal and Research.
Warwick is ranked 3rd for Education when results are weighted by research intensity.1
76 per cent of Warwick's Education submission was regarded as ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ in terms of originality, significance and rigour; up 14 percentage points from the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise.2
- 93 per cent of all active researchers in Education were submitted to the REF, the fourth highest in the UK and compared to an average submission rate of 27 per cent.3
- Rankings based on Research Power place Warwick 9th in the UK within the Education unit of Assessment.4
- Warwick's Grade Point Average (GPA)5 of 3.04 places Education within the top 20 institutions for Education (joint 18th in the country on this headline measure).

1 Research intensity, as calculated by The Times Higher Education (1-7 January 2015), is measured using 'Intensity-weighted GPA'. This measure multiplies the Grade Point Average (GPA) by the proportion of eligible staff submitted to the REF. This attempts to account for high levels of selectivity in staff submitted to the REF (with Warwick submitting 93 per cent of eligible staff).
