My PhD research study uses an explanatory sequential mixed methods approach, which consists of two phases (Creswell, 2014). The first phase of the study involved new volunteers completing a questionnaire on three occasions. The second phase of the study involved collecting qualitative data by conducting semi-structured interviews with the new volunteers at different branches of the mental health charity.
