New Teachers and New Technologies

New teachers, classrooms and new technologies was a two year project, funded by the University of Warwick Research Development Fund, which described and analysed trainees' and newly qualified IT teachers’ experiences of working in secondary schools. The project addressed several issues which are critical for understanding initial teacher development including:

  • how teachers of ICT frame teaching their subject
  • the peculiarities of ICT as a subject
  • the influences, in particular the impact of institutional culture, on trainee and newly qualified teachers
  • how trainees perceive the value of initial teacher education in their professional development
  • the conflicts and dilemmas trainee and newly qualified teachers experience and how these are accommodated
  • the importance and limitations of reflective practice models of learning to teach

Several papers were published concerning this project.
