Tablet Pcs into Schools

A partnership approach to developing the use of Tablet PCs

Michael Hammond, University of Warwick

This project set out to design, implement and evaluate the use of Tablet PCs to support pupils learning, and:

  • consider the use of Tablet PCs to enhance pupils learning
  • model the use of Tablet PCs for trainee teachers and mentors
  • disseminate cases studies on the use of Tablet PCs to enhance pupil learning
  • enhance communication between mentors, students and tutors
  • design a strategy for the future use of Tablet PCs within partnership training

The project team followed an action research methodology built around four phases: design, implement, evaluate, disseminate

In the design phase consider technical, teaching and evaluation issues including the range of Tablet PCs on offer and oru training needs.

In the implementation we used Tablet Pcs in different contexts including school and university based sessions.

To evaluate the project we carried out interviews and surveys. The final results of the project are being reported and will be freely available over the Internet.
