Home Education Experiences of Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
What is the study about?
This research project explores the everyday experiences of home education for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). It focuses on what learning looks and feels like in a supportive and inclusive home environment. We are particularly interested in your child’s daily routines, activities, and the moments that matter most to them.
What would taking part involve?
As part of the study, your child will be invited to take photographs that capture their learning journey at home. These images will help bring their experiences to life and contribute to a wider understanding of home education.
We will also invite parents or caregivers to take part in a recorded conversation about their journey into home education. Further details can be found in the Participant Information Leaflet (PIL).
As a thank you for taking part, your child will receive a £50 electronic shopping voucher for each home visit
Who can take part?
We are looking for families who:
- Have a child aged 7–16 with a Special Educational Need and/or Disability who is home educated
- Live in the West Midlands or Staffordshire
- Have a child who is able to provide informed assent and take part in the activities with minimal parental supervision
If you are unsure whether you meet the criteria, please feel free to get in touch.
