Collaboration Activities with SARChI Chair for Higher Education and Human Development, UFS, South Africa

From 10-14 November 2025, Prof Henderson was invited by Prof Melanie Walker with Dr Mikateko Mathebula and Dr Faith Mkwananzi to a series of activities hosted by the SARChI Chair for Higher Education and Human Development (HEHD), University of the Free State (UFS), South Africa. Prof Henderson's association with the HEHD Programme began in 2013 via a funded doctoral mobility scheme, and has continued ever since. The visit was coordinated by HEHD Coordinator Lucretia Smith.

On 12 November, Prof Henderson along with Dr Precious Simba (Stellenbosch University) and Dr Siseko Kumalo(University of Johannesburg), served as keynotes at the HEHD Colloquium entitled 'STORIES OF WELLBEING, AGENCY AND REDUCING INJUSTICES'. Prof Henderson presented a WAHEI paper : 'Narrating a practice with no name? Conceptualising ‘Higher Education Outreach’ in India through faculty member narratives'. The paper was generously chaired by Dr Fenella Somerville and responded to by discussants Dr Arina Sibanda and Dr Daizy Nalwamba. The colloquium also included a postdoctoral research showcase and panel discussion of the RAHEDA network. The day as a whole was rich and inspiring.
