I am currently Deputy Headteacher at Wembrook Primary, which is a very large school in North Warwickshire, with over 700 children on roll. Our children come from various diverse backgrounds and every day has many challenges but also many successes. I enjoy this variety-it certainly keeps me on my toes, as no day is ever predictable!

With over 30 years teaching experience, I strongly believe my role, as a leader, is to encourage all pupils to have high aspirations and develop a love of learning. I hope that I inspire professionals I work alongside to provide these opportunities through a carefully planned creative curriculum.

Another large part of my role over the years has been to mentor students from Warwick University- both the School Direct and the PGCE routes. Supporting and coaching students to reflect on their practice and develop as teachers is something I find both rewarding and enjoyable. As a school, we have supported the University for a number of years, with hosting student days at school and supporting students in developing their understanding of various phonic schemes as well as how to plan effective lessons.

Being asked to become an Honorary Teaching Fellow is very complimentary. I look forward to working together collaboratively, to not only develop my own practice and philosophies, but also to support others.
