Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)

Each year the Centre for Teacher Education trains around 450 budding teachers, with many taking the 1 year Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). Kate Glavina, Primary and Early Years PGCE Course Leader and Dr Alison Morgan, deputy head of Secondary PGCE and lead for the core programme, tell us here how they welcome new recruits during August and September.

Centre for Teacher Education - Announcement

I am delighted to inform you that the Centre for Professional Education, from August 1st 2017, will be known as the Centre for Teacher Education.

The rationale for this change is to ensure that our name fully represents our Vision: To be the first choice for Teacher Education - strongly contributing to teacher supply, school improvement in our local & regional communities, with an outstanding national & international reputation for academic & professional excellence.

Educational Leadership in the International Baccalaureate: critical reflections on modern elite formation and social differentiation

This talk examined the recent decline of the International Baccalaureate's Diploma Programme in the post-16 sector in England, and the views of senior leaders in education on its adoption and subsequent removal in the state sector, whilst it continues to expand in the independent sector.
