Secondary Core and SD Induction programme 2018 - 2019
The Secondary induction for SD and Core commenced on Tuesday 28th August 2018 and we welcomed 267 trainees across eighteen subjects - our largest ever cohort!
It really has been a fantastic launch for the programme. Trainees had participated in a wide range of lectures and seminars on topics such as teacher identify, behaviour, learning theories and planning. Due to the size of the cohort, lectures have been delivered on main campus during each morning, before trainees travelled across to Westwood for small group seminars, where they will spend a day each week once induction concludes. A highlight was watching twelve returning NQTs from last year's cohort give advice and guidance - already active and vital members of our expansive alumni.
All trainees will now spend two days in their placement schools. They are scheduled to meet department staff, mentors and even their future classes.
We look forward to seeing them next Wednesday for the second half of induction, when we address safeguarding protocols, well-being and assessment against the Teachers' Standards. Trainees will also have the opportunity to meet their personal tutor who visits them on placements throughout the year.
