Kate Foxon - Associate Teaching Fellow

Kate is an Associate Teaching Fellow on both the Primary and Secondary PGCE course providing professional and personal support for trainees. She is also currently Acting Assistant Headteacher at a special school for secondary age students with complex social and communication difficulties. She is also currently undertaking work on the SEND component of the trainee programme, supporting teachers to develop a greater understanding of how to support and develop learners with more challenging needs.

Kate did both her first degree and teacher training at the University of Warwick so is excited to return in this Associate Teaching Fellow role. Previous roles include Curriculum Leader for English as well as working in strategic leadership positions linked to teaching and learning, literacy and SEN needs in Ghana and New Zealand.

She is passionate about supporting trainee teachers to gain a research-based and practical insight into the needs of a wide range of students with a particular interest in developing creative literacy links across teh curriculum, Emotion Coaching, meeting the needs of learners with autism and exploring strategies to understand and manage challenging behaviour.
