Gathertown
Welcome to our Digital Community
What is Gathertown?
gather.town is web-conferencing software where participants can see themselves as little characters (or avatars) in the virtual room they are occupying. They can move around the room and interact with other participants either in public areas (like cafes) or private areas (like meeting rooms). When participants interact they can use audio and video. There is also a chat option and participants can interact with objects that have been uploaded into the room. These may be embedded .png files (images) or links to YouTube videos. There may also be whiteboards that participants can use for groupwork.
How are we using Gathertown?
As part of CTE’s commitment to the Warwick Teacher Values (Social Justice) and in conjunction with an ongoing Digital Project, you are all invited you to our Welcome Café (previously Rainbow Virtual Pub). We are using this digital platform to create a safe space online where trainee teachers can meet with others to discuss issues pertaining to anything from the menopause, parents and carers to LGBTUA+ teachers and allies or anything else you feel like discussing. A chance for all to celebrate themselves and any super practice that they might wish to share and/or discuss around these issues that they might face or be facing in schools or the university.
Who can attend the Welcome Café ?
Absoultely anyone who is part of the CTE community.
