MSc Dissertation/Project Support Group

Towards the end of this term, you will have a group meeting with an academic in the department who has supervised MSc dissertations/projects before, around "finding a topic and a supervisor". In order to divide you into groups, please fill out the form below to choose a group that best aligns with your interests. You are expected to attend one group only, however, you are completely free to change your group later.

Deadline to fill out the form: 12 noon on 18th November. After this deadline, any student who hasn't chosen a group will be randomly allocated to a group meeting.

Notes on the areas of interest:

Finance - topics around investment, stock markets, pensions, ESG, M&A, competition, international finance, exchange rates, Brexit, firm performance and micro-data approaches to finance etc. We expect that most EIFE students will feel most at home in this group.

Macro and monetary economics - topics around central banking, business cycles, firm dynamics, government debt, fiscal policy, public finance, taxes, subsidies, public policy evaluation using micro data etc.

Labour and applied micro - topics around discrimination, labour-replacing technologies, AI, education, immigration, culture, marriage, politics, (social) media, etc.

Development and international trade - topics including inequality, poverty, food security, exports, imports, trade negotiations and agreements, etc.

Environment, health and wellbeing - topics on pollution, Covid, happiness, and behavioural economics. We expect most BES students will choose this group.
