Does the long run really matter?

Keynes cared little about the long run, says Robert Skidelsky in the Washington Post, but not because he was gay. Historian Niall Ferguson stirred up a hornets' nest at a conference earlier this month when he made an off-the-cuff remark that Keynes may not have cared about future generations because he was gay and childless. Robert Skidelsky points out in his piece, Ferguson's comments have forced economists to consider what Keynes really thought about the long run and why.
