Modelling the benefits of healthier jobs
This part of the project aims to develop health economic models that can be used to estimate the benefits of healthier jobs.
We are developing conceptual models of the relationship between job quality, health, and productivity. These conceptual models will be refined with stakeholders, so they give a credible and complete overview of why healthy jobs matter.
Alongside this, we have identified examples of health economic cost-benefit models for two of the most important conditions impacted by job quality – mental health and musculoskeletal conditions. We will develop these models further, so they can be used to explore the potential value to employees, employers, and the public purse of making jobs healthier.
