Planning and Environmental Bar Association Careers Evening
Hybrid Event

The evening will give an insight into a career at the planning and environmental bar and the fascinating opportunities it provides to people from all backgrounds and walks of life. The speakers will include junior and senior members who will share their experiences and provide guidance to those considering this career path. The talks will be followed by a drinks reception with the opportunity for more informal discussion with barristers. The event is primarily aimed at university and bar students interested in hearing about a potential career at the planning and environmental bar.

Our Spotlight events are a great way to find out more about PwC and the programmes we offer. During our ‘Spotlight on: Jobs in Cyber Ethical Hacking’ event, you’ll be able to find out what a career in Cyber Ethical Hacking means at PwC and if you feel it’s a good fit for you. You’ll be able to hear from our recent joiners in a panel session and have one-on-one conversations with members of our Cyber Ethical Hacking team in our networking session. Our Student Recruitment team will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have about our application process.

LPC vs SQE
Social Sciences

For students intending to train as a Solicitor, the LPC and SQE workshop will outline the old and new route helping students to decide which is best for them. The workshop will be delivered by colleagues from the University of Law and explain what is the SQE. The focus will be on pros and cons of each route and guidance on making your decision. The team will lead an interactive taster to demonstrate what PG legal study will be like.

Going for growth: hot practice areas of the 2020s — with Pinsent Masons

Global giant Pinsent Masons is one of the UK’s largest training firms, offering 72 training contracts each year across its offices, with newly qualified solicitor salaries of up to £92,000. The theme is ‘Going for growth: hot practice areas of the 2020s’. We’ll be exploring four practice areas that look set to perform strongly over the next few years: data, technology, energy and restructuring. There will then be a panel discussion where a Legal Cheek journalist puts students’ questions to the speakers.

3PB Pupillage Open Evening
Hybrid Event

Prospective pupils will be able to join us in-person at our Birmingham office, or attend virtually via Zoom, to learn all about pupillage opportunities at the UK’s third largest chambers. We will also be hosting pupils at our London office. To give students an insight into what 3PB offers to pupils and what work is carried out across chambers, speakers at the event will include Simon Astill, 3PB’s Chief Executive, and Cheryl Jones, Head of Pupillage at 3PB, as well as speakers from all six of our locations.

ULaw’s National Virtual Pupillage Fair 2022

If you are interested in pursuing a career as a barrister. Over 34 chambers and legal organisations from across the country, and covering all practice areas, shall be attending. You will have the opportunity to visit their booths, interact 1-to-1 with their barristers, and ask any questions you may have. I shall also be running an ‘Ask a Future Pupil’ booth to any answer any pupillage questions you may have. Additionally, there will be representatives from ULaw’s BPC at the event to answer any bar course questions you may have. Sign up to attend.

We are proud to be working exclusively with RPC on this Inside City Law event! Students will spend a whole day at RPC’s head office located in London overlooking The Tower of London. They will take part in sessions designed to reflect the application process, as well as showcasing their skills and personality. Students will also hear opportunities that are available to them in this leading firm, through networking sessions with the recruitment team, trainees and lawyers.

Law Commission Research Assistant Outreach Event 2022/23

Every year, the Law Commission recruits a number of research assistants to help make the law simple, modern and fair. Ahead of the launch of our 2022/23 research assistant recruitment campaign, we are holding a live event for all prospective applicants. The event will cover who we are at the Law Commission, the role of a research assistant, the application process and some top tips for a successful application. There will also be an opportunity to hear from our current research assistants about their experiences, and to ask any questions.

The Legal Cheek Winter 2022 Virtual Vacation Scheme

Runs from Monday, December 05 to Friday, December 09.

It features a series of short talks, workshops and Q&As with lawyers from leading firms, corresponding written exercises set by ULaw, as well as an Employability Expo and various socials. The Scheme is open to all students. Its aim is to help boost employability and enable students to gain insights into life as a lawyer across a range of practice areas. The Scheme is not part of the participating firms’ recruitment processes. This is an ideal opportunity for students who haven’t secured a law firm vacation scheme to gain some experience and network with law firms during December.
