Research Seminar - Gemma Hobcraft, St Mary's University LondonRoom S2.12 Law School, Social Sciences BuildingTitle: Imagining 2050: Regulating the Future of Biolaw Abstract: The year 2020 is 30 years on from the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act which established the framework for the regulation of assisted reproductive technologies and research in the United Kingdom – is it now time for broader, bolder regulation to address issues of genetics, commercial genomics and cross-border big data? This talk will be imagining the regulator of the future and the issues that it may have to face thirty years on, in 2050. Gemma Hobcraft is a Barrister at Doughty Street Chambers- specialising in health care regulation, a Lecturer in Law at St Mary’s University and a former Member and Deputy Chair of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA). Gemma is published in the fields of human rights, assisted reproduction and health care regulation & is currently writing a book on Biolaw. |
