DiversCity in Law: Free online LGBTQ+ legal careers event

Firms will include RPC, Reed Smith, Weil, Milbank, Pinsent Masons, Mayer Brown, Sidley, Ashurst, Ropes & Gray, Hogan Lovells, Latham & Watkins, Linklaters, BCLP, Covington, CMS, White & Case and Arnold and Porter. This event has been created to help LGBTQ+ Undergraduate and Postgraduate students find out more about potential careers in law with our participating firms. We’ll be discussing being LGBTQ+ in the workplace and specific graduate and internship schemes. After the event, students can apply for mentoring opportunities with our clients too.

The Legal Cheek Virtual Pupillage Fair 2021

Our Pupillage Fairs have capacity for up to 2,000 students, making them the largest bar careers events in the UK. The Fairs give students from all parts of the UK the opportunity to meet the nation’s leading chambers from their laptops. In addition to video walk-ins with chambers’ pupillage recruitment teams each Fair has six careers and commercial awareness virtual workshops delivered by leading barristers.

What does qualifying work experience mean for students hoping to secure training contracts under the new SQE regime?

Unsure about what ‘qualifying work experience’ (QWE) means and how you can take advantage of it? With the new SQE route offering students the chance to gain credit towards their training independently via QWE, the process of qualifying as a solicitor is changing significantly. The new regime allows students to complete QWE through paralegal work and other placements before, during and after they study for the SQE.
