A panel of campaigners, activists and writers - all of whom are featuring in Lacuna Magazine's special edition on protest (www.lacuna.org.uk) - share their thoughts and ideas on how to build an effective campaign in the 21st century. Speakers include Emily Scurrah from 38 Degrees, journalist and writer, Adam Weymouth and lifelong activist and protestor Father Martin Newell.

This event is being held as part of the Protest and Performance Week. The full programme of events and details of how to register can be found on the website of the Centre for Human Rights in Practice, at the University of Warwick.

An inter-active poetry workshop on Freedom of Speech with Laila Sumpton.

Laila is a member of the Keats House Poets Forum and an example of her recent work can be found here.She has recently been working with the Centre for Human Rights in Practice on poetry projects related to human rights.

This 90 minute inter-active workshop for staff and students is FREE but booking is essential as places are limited. Tea/coffee and cakes will be served before the workshop at 1.30 pm.

Freedom of Speech week - Poetry workshop

Join us for an inter-active poetry workshop on Freedom of Speech with Laila Sumpton. Laila is a member of the Keats House Poets Forum and she has recently been working on poetry projects related to human rights with the Centre for Human Rights in Practice and Lacuna magazine.

This workshop is part of the Freedom of Speech week coordinated by the Humanities Research Centre. The activities include:

  • Talk by Jeremy Wright MP - Friday 6th November - 5.15 pm
  • Local Perspectives - Warwick and the World University Service - Monday 16th November - 5.00 pm
  • Histories of Freedom of Speech, Ancient and Modern - Tuesday 17th November - 5.00 pm
  • Poetry Workshop - Wednesday 18th November - 2.00 pm
