Meet the ED&I Team

Dr Rachael Blakey | Director of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion: Student Facing

Hi! My Name is Rachael, and I am your Student Facing Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I). You might know me from teaching Property or one of the many Family Law modules here at Warwick. I am your point of contact for any ED&I concerns. This includes disability, feelings of inclusion/exclusion, race, gender, religious beliefs, and supporting students who are carers. I work closely with the School’s Undergraduate and Postgraduate students to create programs that address student priorities on ED&I related concerns. You will see me at event slike Welcome Week, SLLC Meetings, and of course our ED&I committee.

If you would like to learn more about ED&I or have a concern you would like to discuss, please contact me via email.

Mahek Bhatia | ED&I Officer

Hi everyone! My name is Mahek Bhatia, and I am a final-year law student from India. I am pleased to be a part of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team. I understand that a lot of students, especially international students, struggle with feeling out of place at University, and it is something I want to work on improving (as I have experienced this too!). If you ever feel the same way or have recommendations about events that we can organise, please do reach out to me at mahek dot bhatia at warwick dot ac dot uk. I'd love to help out and be a point of support!

Bailey Kendal | ED&I Officer

Hi all! My name is Bailey Kendal, I am from Newcastle and I am in the final year of my law degree here at Warwick. Due to finishing my A-levels with very poor grades I worked for several years before taking an Access to Higher Education Course at college to be able to attend university. As a state-educated, mature student I know how challenging it can be for individuals who are starting higher education and who have not taken the typical conventional route into law. I myself have struggled with imposter syndrome and feeling out of place while studying at university. That is why I am very proud to be part of the ED&I team where we work to help others feel confident in their university experience. If you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to reach out to me at bailey dot kendal at warwick dot ac dot uk. Speak soon!

Jade Ellis | ED&I Officer

Hi everyone! I’m Jade. I’m honoured to be your EDI officer this year. In my position, I hope to act as a bridge/ between your EDI concerns and a potential resolution. This year I want to particularly hone in on the message of education and celebration. This may take the form of themed events, centering around current affairs or informational posts launched on our upcoming social media channels. If you have any issues or questions, feel free to contact me at Jade dot ellis at warwick dot ac dot uk.
