Lloyd George receives unprecedented support from the Whitehall machine to produce his memoirs. He is given access to thousands of secret papers. Moreover, he is one of the 'great ones' who refused to pull his punches. When the King asked for Lloyg George to remove certain passages, the Welsh Wizard replied: 'Why should the King be against my book? He can go to Hell. I owe him nothing; he owes his throne to me'.
