Welcome to the School of Education, Learning and Communication Sciences (SELCS)!
We’re delighted to have you join our research community and look forward to supporting you on your journey.
If you’ve met the conditions of your offer, the enrolment process is now open - see the University’s Enrolment webpages for details, or contact the Student Visa Advice Service with any queries. If you haven’t yet accepted your offer, you can respond via the Application Portal.
To help you settle in, we’ve planned a series of Welcome Week and induction events to introduce you to key people, spaces and resources, and to connect you with fellow researchers.
Monday 28 September
SELCS Social Event

Panorama Suite (Rootes Building)
Join us for an informal social event, where you’ll have the chance to meet fellow new students from across the School as you begin your PhD journey.
Thursday 1 October
These four activities will take place as one event. We expect all new PGR students to attend from 10:00am - 3:00pm.
Welcome to your PGR Studies in SELCS

Meet other new PGRs and key staff, share experiences, and explore the many ways to thrive during your research degree. We’ll also signpost key resources and platforms.

Introduction to the Library

The Research Exchange, on Floor 3 of the Library.
Led by Christine Bradford from the Library, this session will help you navigate resources and tools available to researchers.
Postgraduate Research Methods

Welcome to the first of our weekly Postgraduate Research Methods sessions. These sessions are designed to help postgraduate researchers build confidence in key research concepts, approaches, and skills, while providing opportunities to learn from others and engage with the wider research community throughout the year.
