Public Talk by Ayse Guveli on Turkish Migration to Europe
Prof. Guveli's findings come from the project "2000 Families: Migration Histories of Turks in Europe". The study tracks the stories of 1600 Turkish men born between 1920 and 1945 from five distinct regions in Turkey, who migrated to nine European countries, following not just their lives, but the lives of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren wherever they are in the world.
Led by Dr Ayse Guveli at the University of Essex and funded by NORFACE, the study also follows the lives of some 400 hundred Turks who could have migrated but chose not to and compares their lives with those who left.
