NEW VIDEO QUICKSTART ABOUT MOVING TO WINDOWS 7 FROM XP
In addition to the paper quickstart guide for staff moving to Windows 7 from XP, we now have a video version. It is highly recommended you view one of these before moving to Windows 7. You can get both from http://help.wbs.ac.uk/kb/software/windows/win7upgrade/

DO YOU USE THE FOLLOWING SOFTWARE: CAPLAN AND GIVEWIN?
WBS Solutions are currently looking at migrating to 64 bit operating systems. This would give us the opportunity to run more powerful desktop systems with more memory. Unfortunately some older applications would no longer work. So far we have identified Caplan and Givewin as being unsuitable for use under 64 bit Windows. If you use either of these products please contact the Helpdesk (help@wbs.ac.uk).

REPLACEMENT OF ADOBE WRITER WITH PDF CONVERTER
We intend to replace our aging version of Adobe Acrobat with PDF Converter, a site licence for which is held by the University. Following previous feedback we have investigated the functionality of both and believe PDF Converter to be capable of all the actions we require. More details on this comparison is available at the link below. If you have Adobe Acrobat installed it will continue to function but it will no longer be available for new installs.

INTENTION TO MOVE TO THE WEB VERSION OF DHL CONNECT
Many administrative staff use DHL Connect for organising shipping. Previously staff used a version of DHL Connect that was installed on the computer. DHL ended support for this version a number of years ago and are instead encouraging the use of a web-based alternative. This offers a numbers of benefits including that you can access the information from any computer and that your address book information is safely stored on DHL's computers. WBS Solutions will be happy to assist any staff member in the move from the desktop to the web version. Any staff member who has concerns about such a move is asked to contact help@wbs.ac.uk

SYNCHING GROUPWISE WITH YOUR MOBILE DEVICES
It is now possible to synchronise GroupWise (email, calendar and contacts) with a range of mobile devices such iPhones, iPads and Android phones. To find out more please see:
