WBS Accounting Group
Research is a strategic priority in the Accounting Group and is well supported by Warwick's long established research reputation and growing culture of interdisciplinarity. Research in the Accounting Group covers all key aspects of accounting research such as financial and corporate reporting expertise, management accounting and capital market-based accounting.
Financial/corporate reporting expertise research in the group currently includes: international financial reporting; critical accounting and accounting history; taxation; auditing and accountability in public and private firms; the accounting profession; and accounting education.
Research in management accounting is clustered around performance measurement, organisational processes and practice, and strategic management accounting and control.
Capital market-based accounting research includes: accounting disclosures and stock market returns; the role of accounting narratives; the valuation of firms; the role of investment analysts; the value relevance of intangibles; stock market anomalies; and corporate social responsibility.
The group's access to research databases (COMPUSTAT, Datastream, Boardex, WRDS Thomson One Banker, including Investext and IBES) compares favourably with US institutions.
The Accounting Group contributes to teaching and supervision across the top-ranked WBS undergraduate, specialist masters, MBA and PhD programmes.
