Biography
David Murphy is Senior Teaching Fellow at Lancaster University and a regular contributor to the Warwick MBA. He has a first degree in economics and an MA in accounting and finance. He qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG and then started his academic career at Liverpool University before moving to Manchester and then to Lancaster.
He has been involved with the Warwick MBA programmes for a number of years and has taught Accounting on all its various modes. He contributes to the study materials across the range of accounting and finance related modules and acts as online moderator and tutor to a number of modules on the MBA suite of programmes. He also supervises dissertations in the finance and related areas.
He is a frequent guest lecturer at Manchester Business School and other academic institutions in the UK and overseas. He is heavily involved with the qualifying examinations for the accounting profession.
He teaches in many areas across both financial and management accounting as well as the merger and acquisition modules . He has taught and published in these areas both in the UK and abroad.
Outside of academic interests his time is taken up with travelling, ornithology and football.
