About the Hackathon

The Gillmore Hackathon 2024, hosted by the Gillmore Centre in association with the Warwick Enterprise, is an exciting two-day event where students will come together in teams to tackle innovative challenges and develop solutions. This event is designed to inspire creativity, foster collaboration, and provide an opportunity to showcase problem-solving skills in a competitive but friendly environment. Participants may also attract the attention of organizations within our network that are seeking talented graduates for potential job opportunities.

  • A hackathon is an event where individuals or teams collaborate intensively to solve challenges or create innovative solutions, typically through the use of technology. Participants brainstorm, design, and build projects within a set time frame, then present their solutions to judges, with prizes awarded to the best teams. Hackathons encourage creativity, teamwork, and skill-building, offering participants a chance to learn, network, and develop practical solutions in a fun, fast-paced environment.

  • Make sure to bring your laptop, charger, any hardware or equipment you might need, and your student ID. Lunch and refreshments will be provided, but feel free to bring anything extra to keep yourself comfortable.

  • What are the eligibility criteria for participants ?

    The hackathon is open to all students from the University of Warwick

  • The competition features a set of challenges or themes for participants to base their projects on. Teams can choose any one challenge of their choice from the options provided. They will develop their solutions over the course of the two-day hackathon and present them to a panel of judges for evaluation.

  • All participants must register individually first! If you already have a team in mind, you can officially register your team during the precursor event on October 16 when the team registration form opens. Teams must consist of 4 members. If you don’t have a team yet, don’t worry! The precursor event is a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow participants, make new friends, and form a team. Everyone is welcome!

  • The Gillmore Hackathon offers fantastic cash prizes for our top teams: £350 for first place, £250 for second place, and £150 for third place. This is your chance to showcase your creativity, talent and innovation! Join us for an exciting competition where your hard work can lead to rewarding outcomes!

  • Lunch and refreshments will be provided, to keep you energized throughout the event!
