Meet Dennis: Learner

Student learner

Dennis is 13 and lives with his uncle and older sister.

His parents live 3 hours away in Krachi, Ghana. His mother is a headmistress and his father is a soldier. Dennis sees his father three times a year and his mother about once every 3 months. He is lucky to only have a 5 minute bike ride into school.

Dennis loves school, loves to learn and likes living with his uncle. Dennis thinks that the Warwick teachers are very different to his usual teachers. He now understands Maths and English better and also enjoys them both a lot more. He said that he really enjoyed having the Warwick in Africa teachers come and wishes that they could stay and teach them forever.

The Warwick volunteers purchased a new clock for every classroom. Dennis is happy about this as it will help the school to be more organised. Everyone will now be able to know exactly when the lessons should start and finish so no time is wasted.

He also really liked the fact that we laminated work and put it up around the classroom. He was thrilled to hear that we gave the school a laminating machine so this could continue.
