The Impact of the Monash Warwick Alliance
We value the innovation and drive of our enduring partnership. Below are a few case studies from some of our collaborative projects and initiatives.
The Alliance addressing fundamental questions in science
What are the basic building blocks of matter? What are the fundamental interactions? What happened in the earliest stages of the Universe, and how did that result in what we observe around us today? Large international collaborations are needed to progress towards answering these questions. Bringing together expertise from Warwick and Monash groups has created a unique alliance that enables us to take ever-stronger leadership in these international endeavours.
PhD Travel Grants building global connections
The MWA PhD travel grant has benefited Ash Sexton immensely. Ash is investigating how telephone-based digital triage, used in cases of urgent out of hours care, can be improved. The international perspective the grant offers gave her research a wider context and is aiding the dissemination of her findings.
Improving sustainability through Purpose Ecosystems in business
The Monash Warwick Alliance Research Catalyst Fund enabled Associate Professors Fred Dahlmann and Wendy Stubbs to establish a pilot project to explore the roles played by members of a business ecosystem in accelerating actions aligned with achieving Sustainable Development Goals.
Global Classrooms in Higher Education hub
Are we really making the most of bringing together people of different international and cultural backgrounds within higher education? The creation of the Global Classrooms in Higher Education Hub responds to this question by sharing pedagogies, resources, ideas, and experiences as an inspiration for educators.
Hear from our International academic lead
“Sharing expertise around the world is the most effective way to overcome the biggest challenges facing humanity. I am proud that the Universities of Warwick and Monash pioneered a model for British-Australian international collaboration in higher education a decade ago, resulting in a successful Alliance that has so far produced a thousand co-authored research papers, sparked joint projects tackling dangers such as superbugs and cancer, and enabled worldwide mobility for our diverse campus communities.”
Professor Mike Shipman, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International) at the University of Warwick
