Warwick-backed European alliance of universities is granted legal status at European Parliament event
A ground-breaking alliance of ten European universities – including the University of Warwick – has been granted legal status as a not-for-profit institution during an event at the European Parliament.
The move formalises the EUTOPIA partnership between the universities, who work together to find solutions to major societal challenges through collaborative research, increased mobility of students and staff, and advocating for innovation.
Babeș-Bolyai University hosted The Guild’s Vice-presidents meeting to kick off the academic year
From 6-7 September, Babeș-Bolyai University (UBB) hosted The Guild’s Vice-Presidents for the first time since joining the network. The meeting’s agenda included discussions on capacity building opportunities in FP10, Romania’s national R&I strategy, the launch of the Africa-Europe clusters of research excellence and the European Universities initiative.
EUTOPIA Joint Academic Year Opening
The EUTOPIA European University Alliance, a consortium of ten European universities, is excited to announce the joint inauguration of the 2023-2024 academic year. The event, themed “Europe, EUTOPIA, and the need for a new Renaissance,” will take place in the hemicycle of the European Parliament on Friday, 29 September, at 15:00.

The Guild launches a new paper on transnational collaboration and mobility
Lead author, Professor Jo Angouri, the Academic Director for Education and Internationalisation at the University of Warwick, explains why it is important to use the sector’s experience and which support tools are needed. The insight paper looks into the triptych of transnational collaboration, innovation and policy implications. It draws on evidence from research and examples of programme activities from the experience of Guild member universities
Warwick hosts the high-profile Chevening Annual Conference
In May 2023, 200 delegates attended Chevening’s Annual Conference, titled ‘Innovation and Collaboration around the World’, hosted by the University of Warwick. The delegates included speakers from the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), 165 Chevening scholars from universities across the UK, University staff, and alumni from the Chevening alumni network.

The EUTOPIA European Alliance is pleased to announce the appointment of Mattia Bellotti as its new Secretary-General, effective March 1st, 2023. As the alliance's coordinator, Bellotti will lead EUTOPIA's efforts to promote closer cooperation and integration among its partner universities and support their joint work in ten countries.
