We are delighted to announce the award of a new PhD studentship funded by the Midlands Graduate School ESRC Doctoral Training Partnership, led by Professor Jackie Hodgson in the School of Law, which will fund a researcher to investigate the provision of legal assistance to those detained in police custody in Scotland.

The Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies at the University of Warwick encourages outstanding postdoctoral scholars to apply to The Leverhulme Trust’s Early Career Fellowships scheme, for Fellowships starting in the 2022/23 academic year. The three-year Fellowship contributes 100% of the Fellow’s salary in the first year, and thereafter 50% of the salary, with the balance being paid by the University. Appointments at the University of Warwick are dependent on the award of the Fellowship.

Applications for a fully funded collaborative doctoral award are now open. The award funded by the AHRC via the Midlands4Cities Doctoral Training Partnership will start in October 2022. The Department of History has partnered with the Parliamentary Archives to offer a project on 'Contested sexualities: love, desire and the institution of Parliament in the long nineteenth century'. In addition to the PhD research the successful candidate will also gain experience and training in contributing to outreach activities, public engagement and diversity work for the Parliamentary Archives in London and in the Midlands. The Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies encourages outstanding postdoctoral scholars to apply to The British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship scheme, for Fellowships hosted at Warwick starting in the 2022/23 academic year.

James Harrison has been awarded a British Academy/Leverhulme Trust Senior Research Fellowships for the 2021-22 academic year. The fellowship allows James to work exclusively for a year on a project entitled ‘Reconceptualising international trade law: In search of a bounded, socially embedded and re-connected regime’.

Dr Simon Behrman, Associate Professor at Warwick Law School has been awarded a British Academy/Leverhulme Small Research Grant of £9,752 towards his project “Assessing Rights to Bangladeshi Citizenship of Stateless Rohingya Children.”
