ResNet: Peer to Peer filesharing
We hope that you all had a good break and now that you have settled back into your residences, we'd like to remind you of the implications of using Peer to Peer (P2P) filesharing applications.
The use of P2P can result in destabilisation & degradation of the ResNet Service as a whole and may cause the ResNet Service to become unusable to all ResNet customers.
As from the start of this Spring Term, all ResNet customers identified as running a P2P application will have their port blocked, and, as outlined in the ResNet Acceptable Use Policy, will incur a period of disconnection and an administrative charge for reconnection. As such, we would encourage you all to re-familiarise yourself with the ResNet AUP so that you may avoid any such occurrence.
If you are not sure what Peer to Peer filesharing is, or what applications are used for it, then you can check our information page for more details.
