Warwick International Higher Education Academy

The Warwick International Higher Education Academy (WIHEA) is a shining example of making a big impact with a small team. With just three full-time staff and two supporting staff, they manage to support a community of around 1,000 people at Warwick and beyond.

The Academy is actively involved in governance, development initiatives, networks and think tanks that set the tone and develop the direction of learning and teaching at Warwick.

They’re committed to creating a culture of excellence in education, offering a wide range of programs and opportunities for students and staff.

Celebrating its tenth year, WIHEA continues to bring in new Fellows each year, providing them with funding, development resources, and networking opportunities.

Professor Stuart Croft: So for our Wow winners today, we are here in the centre of campus. We have Senate House there, the Art Centre there, the Chaplaincy there. And just over my shoulder, the Labyrinth, which is an installation that some of you may know, but many of you may not.

We are here because in Senate House behind us, there's a small team that run the Warwick International Higher Education Academy, doing amazing work, connecting with fellows, with students, making sure that in cross-disciplinary ways, in a co-creation way with students, we are doing fantastic things in pedagogy. It's a really high energy, really excited, really amazing group of people.

So let's go surprise them.

Hello. Be warned there's a camera following. This, good people, is not the meeting you thought. This person has not been telling you the truth.

We are here because you have been nominated for Wows. And you are the winners for the fabulous work that you've done. So first of all, yeah!

Wonderful, wonderful nominations – just saying how amazing you are as a team, first of all, actually. Also to say how incredible the work of this small team is reaching out to so many people, so many fellows, so many people engaged at Warwick and actually beyond as well. Which is a great thing.

And it's your 10th anniversary year. And you're having a big gig, aren't you? A big gig in July.

So, thank you. Thank you all for everything you do. We have some small things. Here's the first small thing. It's written down. So it's real. You should have that one first.

But much more important than the writing is of course, you're all stars. So you get the star. Just to remind you, coming down this way. Thank you so much.

The opportunities WIHEA provide empowers their Fellows to lead change on a departmental, institutional, and even (inter)national level - keeping WIHEA at the cutting edge of educational innovation.

Despite the heavy workload, the team give time and attention to every member of their community, creating a supportive and welcoming atmosphere. This personal touch fosters a strong sense of belonging and loyalty among its members.
