New Security and Information Management website

Over the last year, the University’s responsibilities for managing information and data security have become more demanding and we are responding with a robust programme of changes. These span improvements to our infrastructure and network, to day-to-day systems and processes for security and information management.

An important priority during this period of change has been to provide regular updates, like this one, to keep everyone aware and informed about the work we’re undertaking.

Now, we’re launching a new Security and Information Management website.

The new site will provide everyone at Warwick with a single, easy-to-find location for all our important guidance on University security and information management. In two clicks from the Privacy tab on any Warwick web page, you can now access our Privacy Notices, our Data Protection statement and our new Policy Framework on Information Management, Governance and Security.

Why do we need this?

The information the University creates and manages needs to be kept secure, safely managed and available to the right people at the right time. The comprehensive Policy Framework formally adopted by Council and Senate in early July, provides a structure to understand the full scope of these activities across the University.

The new website is part of our commitment to a programme of work that will deliver a more secure working environment for all staff and students at Warwick. The site development was a collaborative project between the Chief Information & Digital Officer's team, ITS and Internal Communications, with all three areas coming together to deliver content. Please check the website regularly as we continue to post important messages over the coming months. Reading and sharing this content will help increase awareness and understanding of key projects and processes.

What you need to do

Information management, governance and security is a collective responsibility, not just an IT issue. All staff, managers and senior leaders need to be aware of the policies, guidance, procedures, risks and other issues relating to information management within their faculty, department or group. The policies apply to everyone who has a contractual relationship with the University. Find out more from individual summaries and access our full policy documents under the three headings of Information Management, Governance and Security.

Good governance on information management makes our University a safer place to work, a trusted partner in maintaining the excellence of our research, teaching and learning and ensures legal compliance. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with the policies, guidance and the rest of the site content. You can use the on-site feedback forms to let us know what you think – or email cido at warwick dot ac dot uk
