Current Warwick student Adam Edworthy is in the running in a national design competition to find a unique boot to be worn by a footballer in the Arsenal vs. Manchester United game this November.

Further to the Registrar's previous announcement, Kate Hughes will be joining the Deputy Registrar's Office as Director of Student Services from 1 September 2008.

The Student Union Sabbatical Officers, the 'Sabbs', for the year 2008-2009 took up their new roles on August 1st and are now making preparations for the year ahead. Professor Robert Freedman, of the Department of Biological Sciences, was named as one of the leading bioscientists contributing to the UK's economic and social wellbeing at a meeting of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), for his research into protein folding and its implications for improving next generation pharmaceutical production.

Dr Steven Brown, together with Professor Mark Smith and Professor Ray Dupree, from the Department of Physics, recently led a successful bid to the EPSRC on behalf of a consortium of UK universities which has resulted in the award of a substantial £3.7million grant.
