Welcome Week Project Team
Outstanding Team (2019)
Tell us a bit about your role…
Organising the University’s inaugural Welcome Week for over 9,000 new students; including coordinating over 1,000 events in 9 days and managing the complex process of getting all on-campus residents into their rooms over Welcome Weekend.
Tell us about the award-winning project/work and your involvement in it…
The 2018 Welcome Team coordinated the design and delivery of all of the events, communications, and activities associated with our first Welcome Week. We co-designed the Week with hundreds of students and all academic and professional service departments, making sure that we showcased all that Warwick has to offer while meeting students’ needs and expectations. Welcome Weekend and Welcome Week were hugely successful with consistently high feedback from students and staff and this is down to a huge institution-wide effort that was amazing to be a part of.
How does it feel to have won the Outstanding Team Award?
Great! It’s always an honour to be recognised for your hardwork and our team loved working together in delivering such an exciting and fun project. Welcome Weekend and Welcome Week were hugely collaborative though so we do want to acknowledge everyone (staff and student) who helped make it such a success.
Why do you think people should get involved with nominating for the University Awards?
Filling in the form costs nothing but getting the email saying you’ve been nominated really makes a difference. Recognising your colleagues is such a positive thing to do – why wouldn’t you nominate someone?!
What was a personal highlight for you from the Summer Party on 24th June? (Other than winning, of course!)
Being there with (some of!) the members of our team. We loved working together but some of us have moved on to new roles since so it was great to have a mini-reunion.
What would you like to say to the person – or people – who nominated you?
Thank you! We're really proud to have been nominated and to win is a real honour
