France24: 'UK students, French seniors team up for lockdown chats'

Students at the University of Warwick are spending their lockdown chatting online with elderly people in France, bridging intergenerational and international divides in a time marked by isolation. Around fifty French language students from Warwick’s School of Modern Languages and Cultures are currently taking part in the programme ‘ShareAmi’, launched by the French non-profit Oldyssey.

COPE: mechanism in the SARS-CoV-2 corona that could help find new treatments

Researchers have detailed a mechanism in the distinctive crown of SARS-CoV-2 that could help scientists quickly find new treatments for the virus and quickly test whether existing treatments are likely to work with mutated versions as they are developed. The team, led by the University of Warwick, in the United Kingdom, as part of the EUTOPIA community of European universities, has simulated movements in almost 300 protein structures of the spike protein of the Covid-19 virus using computational modeling techniques, in an effort to help identify promising drug targets against the virus.
