Nexus is an exciting project that emerged from the Early Career Researchers (ECR) program at Warwick, specifically designed to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and engagement with industry partners.
This project provides an exciting opportunity to gain a better understanding of the available resources and interconnectedness of the food, energy and water (FEW) sectors, and to provide solutions to underlying challenges in areas of concern.
In this project, we will deploy a Delphi study to capture the interconnections between the FEW sectors in the UK and identify important areas of commonalities and challenges requiring focused attention and extended research based on the One Health approach. Our vision is to fast track better understanding and coordination of consensus areas through policy-relevant recommendations that will sustain and strengthen the Nexus of supply and security of FEW in the UK and internationally.
In the short term, the outcomes of this project will inform and guide future actions and regulations on FEW and support research and innovation in key FEW areas. In the longer term, continued engagement with sector leaders, policy makers, researchers, the public, and other stakeholders will ensure proper dissemination of results, coordination of ideas, measurement of changes in interconnections, and deployment of mitigation strategies in existing or new FEW systems for sustained innovation. Additionally, the project will facilitate the development of physical networks, resources, and platforms whereby different FEW sectors can engage and act on joint areas of interest.
