Warwick Engineering Students have the Winning Formula
Fourteen keen and self-motivated fourth year undergraduate students from the Department of Engineering have set their sights on winning the 2004 Institution of Mechanical Engineers Formula Student competition, slated to take place in Leicestershire next year.

Student Computer Purchase Scheme
The Students' Union and IT Services have worked together to develop a Student Computer Purchase Scheme. This is a brand new way for Warwick students to purchase 'Warwick Ready' IBM computers at special discount prices. 318 computers have already been delivered to students.
Network Disruption
A network component at Gibbet Hill campus developed an unusual hardware fault at 8:10 this morning which caused another element of the network to fail. That element controls overall network integrity and as a result most locations on campus lost network service.

Coffee Break Psychology
The Warwick Decision Technology Group, under the umbrella of the Department of Psychology, is doing some research investigating decision making. They have developed a new website where people can take part in short "coffee-break" psychology experiments. The experiments are a mix of serious science and fun questionnaires and, in addition to providing vital research information, they offer you a chance to learn about your own decision making psychology.

Tim Sullivan, a student from the Warwick Institute of Mathematics, was among 50 top students from Europe and the Middle East who gathered at Hursley Lab in the UK for a three-day recognition event hosted by IBM EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa).

Computer Virus Outbreak - Message from Phil Martin
Many organisations are suffering seriously from computer virus outbreaks at the moment. Entire networks have been grinding to a halt and preventing normal working. The Warwick network is already carrying a large amount of virus traffic because a large number of PCs don't have virus software and the latest Windows updates. We must clamp down on this quickly before it disables us at this busy time of year.
Network Disruption - Explanation
Major disruption occurred to the campus data network yesterday, starting at around 2:55pm. The disruption was caused by failure of a piece of equipment (a 10 gigabit ethernet line card) in one of the four core switches.
