Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT): College of Experts

The College of Experts - a network of external experts from across academia and industry, designed to bring high-quality research, evidence, and specialist insight into all aspects of DSIT’s policy work - is currently recruiting new members.

 

What is the DSIT College of Experts? 
Led by DSIT’s Chief Scientific Adviser, Professor Chris Johnson, the College provides expert appraisal, futures thinking, risk assessment, and holistic perspectives to support robust and sustainable policymaking. Members may contribute through workshops, training, advisory sessions, and thematic consultations.

 

The College aims to: 

  • Broaden DSIT’s evidence base
  • Strengthen access to scientific networks
  • Identify emerging research priorities
  • Support the provision of scientific advice
  • Build enduring relationships between government and the research community

 

Membership is on a voluntary basis, and we ask members to contribute up to five working days per year. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive cohort of experts, representing a wide range of disciplines, backgrounds, and lived experiences. We particularly welcome expressions of interest from medium-late career researchers and industry professionals.

 

Key Dates: 

  • Application Deadline: 24th January 2026
  • Induction and Launch Sessions: March 2026, final dates TBC
