About Us
What are our Global Research Priorities?
Our Global Research Priorities (GRPs) unite researchers to tackle pressing global issues.
They create challenge-focused communities, bringing together and supporting researchers from many different disciplines. From energy to health to sustainability, our ten GRPs address some of the planet's biggest challenges.
We have close partnerships with third parties, such as policy makers, charities and industry. We provide seed funding for projects, and facilitate networking opportunities and other research-related events throughout the year.
What are our areas of research?
Our research falls under three themes:
- Culture and community
- Creativity and connection
- Transnational and global humanities
In addition, we also fund projects related to Coventry City of Culture 2021. To discover more about our latest projects, see our research page.
Why connecting cultures?
How cultures connect and how those connections have shaped us across the centuries are key questions for anyone attempting to understand the world we live in. In our current era of ever deepening globalisation - bringing with it both opportunities and problems - there is more need than ever for scholars to contribute to greater understanding between cultures.
Who is involved?
The Connecting Cultures GRP unites academics from across the University of Warwick. Key research in this area focuses on intercultural studies, mobility, translation and language politics, memory studies, community and creativity, and aims to contribute at both a theoretical and an applied level to debates around what connects and what divides cultures.
The Connecting Cultures GRP Academic Leads coordinate the activities of the GRP.
