Women in Cyber Essay Competition
The Cyber Security GRP is running an essay competition entitled ‘Women in Cyber’. This topic has been chosen to coincide with the University’s Resonate Festival’s ‘Amazing Women’ theme in March 2022. Simply write a short piece about a woman in cyber who has inspired you, or perhaps consider how women are perceived in the world of cyber. The winner will receive a prize of £250.

Women and the cyber world
Perhaps you have thought about how women could be better included in the cyber world? How could the digital world accommodate women more successfully and safely? What impact do these developments have on women?
Women in cyber professions
With research showing that only around 24% of those in the cybersecurity workforce are women, how might this change in the future? Data from UCAS in 2017/18 shows that only 19% of students studying computer science related degrees were female. How can more girls be encouraged into cyber and computer science study?
What are the requirements?
Please submit text of 500- 1,500 words around the topic of ‘Women in Cyber’. This can be as a Word document or similar, or just in the body of an email.
Please note that submissions can relate to women and non-binary people. We welcome submissions from people of all genders.
This competition is open to Early Career Researchers, Post Graduate Researchers, and people studying for PhDs. Final year taught students (any subject area) with a particular interest in research can also apply.
This competition is only open to people at the University of Warwick.
