For Students

It's not just academics that get involved in our research, our students do too.

Our Energy GRP supports students and student research.

Our video challenge runs every year. We want to hear our students' ideas - regardless of the type of degree you're doing.

Last year’s question was ‘What do you consider the UK’s biggest challenge when it comes to decarbonising the energy economy?’ Students submitted a two minute video explaining their answer for a chance to win the £200 prize.

Our previous winners were:

Adam Jones

Jonathan Saad and Isabella Curtis

Details of this year's entry coming soon

The Undergraduate Research Support Scheme (URSS)

The URSS is for undergraduates to carry out a summer research project. The scheme can provide a bursary and skills development training.

We support student projects in energy research. The project should be four to ten weeks long. You will be working with experts in the Energy GRP.

See the URSS website for more information on eligibility and how to apply.

Most of our events are open to students, academics and external partners. They are an opportunity to share ideas, build connections and forge future partnerships.

To stay up to date, sign up to our newsletter.

We really want to help our students excel. After all, you are the next generation of researchers.

We offer the following support, designed to help you reach your full potential:

  • Mentoring
  • Access to existing equipment
  • Sponsor student conferences
  • Offering places at trade shows and exhibitions
  • Travel grants
