Russell Group-China collaborative programme: Intelligent Transportation Systems for Smarter Urban Mobility

- Export as iCalendar
Location: Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications - 10 Xitucheng Road Haidian, Beijing, 100876, China

Transport networks have long been suffering from the strain of excessive demand. As populations expand it becomes difficult to ensure that transport infrastructure with fixed capacities can appropriately adapt. The Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) community and international standardisation bodies have invested significant efforts in developing specifications utilising synergistic technologies and systems engineering concepts to address transport network challenges of all kinds. This workshop provides a platform that brings together academics from Russell Group universities, Chinese institutions and business to share understanding on the key challenges of ITS and the opportunities provided by ITS to develop smarter urban mobility. The one day workshop, divided into several sessions, aims to: •Share understanding of challenges and opportunities on ITS; •Showcase state-of-the-art ITS technologies; •Identify opportunities for new partnerships and strengthen existing partnerships; •Identify possible calls for research on which participants can collaboratively work together; •Develop and strengthen academic and business networks between the UK and China. The scope of topics of interest includes, but is not limited to: Advanced Public Transportation Management; Communications (intervehicle and vehicle-to-road-aside); Computers (hardware, software); Control (adaptive, fuzzy, cooperative, neuro); Decision systems (expert systems, intelligent agents); Systems (engineering, architecture, evaluation); Information systems (databases, data fusion, security); Big Data processing; Sensors (infrastructure and vehicle-based); Simulation (continuous, discrete, real-time); Signal Processing; Standards; Reliability and Quality Assurance (transportation networks/infrastructures); Traffic management and theory; Data modelling and integration; Traffic sensing; Energy modelling and management, sustainable transport; Intelligent transport systems and infrastructure; Intelligent vehicle technologies; Connected and probe vehicles; Electric vehicles route management; Intelligent logistics; Emergency management.
