Global Challenges Research Fund Interdisciplinary Calls
Global Challenges Research Fund Interdisciplinary Calls
Five research councils (BBSRC, MRC, AHRC, ESRC and NERC) have announced joint interdisciplinary calls from the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF):
- Global Infections - Vision and Strategy (led by MRC) (~9m)
- Global Health Science - Beyond Infections (led by MRC) (~19m)
Research funded through the GCRF Foundation Awards will form part of the UK's Official Development Assistance (ODA). Proposals should therefore clearly demonstrate that the primary purpose is to promote the economic development and welfare of Low or Middle Income Countries (LMICs) on the DAC list of ODA recipients.
Successful proposals will target novel objectives requiring stimulus to deliver medium to long term outcomes. Proposals that explore new interdisciplinary opportunities and/or enable ECRs to apply their research to a global health context are particularly encouraged.
A strong engagement with the GCRF will be critical if we are to maximise the funding available for research from RCUK. Research and Impact Services are supporting proposals and those interested are encouraged to contact Elizabeth Cromwell as soon as possible.
Deadline for outlines: 22 June 2016; full proposal deadline: 22 September 2016.
