University of Warwick Hackathon in conjunction with Cogniss

Do you have a brilliant idea for a patient-facing health app? Do you want to get hands-on experience of the build process for a health app?

Join the Health, Business, Manufacturing & Innovation and Digital, Data Science and AI Spotlights for a one-day hackathon competition with Cogniss. Work in teams to identify pressing health challenges (e.g. in mental health and wellbeing/women’s health/prevention and public health), develop problem statements, and co-design digital solutions using the Cogniss no-code platform.

What you'll do:

• Form teams and define real-world health challenges.
• Co-create an app prototype, value proposition, business case, and pitch deck.
• Pitch your concept to a panel of expert judges.

Prizes:

• 1st Place: 12-month access to Cogniss to build a fully functioning app.
• 2nd Place: 6-month access to continue app development.

Whether you're from a healthcare, tech, business, or creative background and whatever your career stage - all skill sets and levels of prior experience are welcome. Competing teams can be formed prior to the event, or we can assign you a team in advance. Please let us know your preference in the sign-up form.

What to Expect:

Morning

• Welcome & Scene Setting - Kick off the day with an introduction to the event agenda and objectives.
• Problem Discovery Workshops - Your team will work together to define a focused problem statement that your app will aim to solve—laying the foundation for a digital health solution.
• Building a Business Case & Pitch Deck - Learn how to craft a compelling value proposition and develop the foundations of a strong business case.
• Onboarding to the Cogniss Platform - Get hands-on with Cogniss—learn how to use the no-code platform to start prototyping your digital solution.

Afternoon

• Team Working & App Prototyping - Collaborate with your team to refine your problem statement, build an app prototype, and shape your pitch.
• Support & Mentoring - Access guidance from expert facilitators and Cogniss mentors throughout the day.
• Final Pitches - Present your team's concept to a panel of judges for a chance to win extended access to the Cogniss platform and bring your idea to life.

About Cogniss:

Cogniss is a no-code platform for digital health that allows healthcare professionals and clinical innovators to create patient-facing digital health apps without the need for software developers or any technical skills. The platform allows digital health apps to be created rapidly and cost-effectively, providing all the infrastructure required to do so in a matter of weeks instead of years and at less than 90% of the cost of traditional software development costs.

Over 100 apps have been built using Cogniss and have been deployed across the world in multiple languages, addressing numerous conditions, clinical areas and populations, from mental health to menopause, from tinnitus to skin conditions, endometriosis, pregnancy and early years support.

Cogniss is the only no-code solution built specifically for patient-facing healthcare apps, with the security, hosting, infrastructure and support aimed at helping innovators meet all the regulatory and compliance requirements to deploy apps into clinical settings with patients.

Other generic no-code solutions do not meet the technical requirements needed for health apps, often being mobile-optimised web apps rather than native, and are not secure or hosted in compliant ways to handle patient data. Whilst some low-code solutions exist for healthcare, they require technical expertise and are not patient-facing.
