Women's Health NIHR Funding call - sandpit

1. To map existing research and applied work in women’s health and women’s health inequalities across disciplines
2. To identify expertise, already present in the university
3. To create visibility between groups who may not currently connect
4. To co-ordinate intended bids to NIHR funding call
5. To gather seed ideas for future interdisciplinary collaboration (including sandpit-related activity)

Morning:

Will involve an interactive networking and mapping session designed to help participants identify shared interests, build new connections, and generate early collaborative ideas in women’s health research.

• Participants will map their research interests and areas of expertise within key women’s health themes.
• Opportunities to identify overlaps, gaps, and potential collaborations across disciplines
• Facilitated networking prompts to encourage meaningful new connections and shared research questions.
• Optional table discussions to develop “seed ideas” aligned with the sandpit call theme for future collaboration.

Networking Lunch

Will provide an opportunity for participants to network in an informal setting.

Optional Afternoon Session:

• Will focus on the NIHR women’s health communication funding call.
• Participants will present their research ideas and be given opportunities to develop their ideas and explore synergies in a collaborative environment.

Please note, this session is aimed only at those intending to submit a bid.

Researchers employed by the University who are interested in contributing to interdisciplinary research on women’s health inequalities and/or research aligned with the NIHR Women’s Health Communication call, including those with expertise in:

• Health communication, messaging, and behaviour change
• Health inequalities, patient experience, or public engagement
• Evaluation design, intervention development, and implementation science
• Women’s health, public health, or community engagement
• Developing interdisciplinary partnerships and collaborative funding applications aligned with the NIHR call

By the end of the workshop, participants should have:

• A clearer understanding of current funding opportunities
• New interdisciplinary connections
• One or more emerging research ideas or themes with funding potential
