Coding and software development - online courses and virtual drop-in support available to start up or advance your skills

With more time working from home, you may be thinking about starting to learn some software development to further your research or to learn a new skill. However, getting started is often difficult and can be daunting. To help, the RSE team has compiled a list of excellent free online courses and will be hosting weekly drop-in sessions every Wednesday for additional support. Join them for:

"Inside a computer". It covers a brief overview of the parts of a computer and how you have to worry about them as a programmer-3pm on 6th May.

TALENT: Website Launched and Chair of Policy announced

The Research England funded TALENT programme has launched a webpage (https://www.mitalent.ac.uk/Homehttps://www.mitalent.ac.uk/Home) which includes an introductory video and brochure outlining what the project will achieve for the Midlands Innovation technical workforce. The Chair of the TALENT Policy Commission has also been announced as Professor Sir John Holman, University of York.

HETS 2021

The UK’s biggest ever conference for technicians in Higher Education and research will be taking place in Nottingham on Wednesday 23rd June 2021.The UK Higher Education Technicians Summit (HETS) is dedicated to sharing best practice amongst technical staff working in higher education and research in the UK and Ireland. HETS 2021 is being held at the East Midlands Conference Centre at the University of Nottingham, and is sponsored by Midlands Innovation in partnership with the Science Council.
