Call for Input: Research Culture- Technicians Perspective

At the heart of the University’s research mission is a commitment to develop a supportive research environment for all faculty – from early career and doctoral researchers, to technicians, research leaders and experienced professors. To continue our drive towards excellence in this area, a Research Culture Committee has been established, to lead a series of projects that will make an important contribution to the University’s research culture going forward.

Whilst the committee will actively seek to develop a research culture programme to capture feedback across campus, it is key that we ensure a broad range of technician’s voices are represented. Dr Sarah Bennett (Research Technology Facility Manager) is our Technical representative on this committee and we are seeking one or two volunteers from the wider technical community to feed the successes and challenges associated with the research culture at Warwick to Sarah, so that she can feed these back to Research Culture Committee. Those volunteering would speak widely with their peers to gather information around the technical viewpoint and we are particularly keen to ensure the voices of core technicians are heard, with these roles being so vital to ensuring research is possible. Volunteers would meet with Sarah once every two months to discuss the technical viewpoint around research culture. In addition, the Research England Funded TALENT grant has a project around Research Culture: A Technicians Lens in partnership with Wellcome Trust, and so we may ask you to meet with researchers to feedback your findings in the future.

In order to express your interest in joining this venture, please complete the online form below. Sarah and the Technician Commitment Steering Group will select volunteers based upon the expression of interest submission by the individual, whilst also ensuring representation across campus and different types of roles.

Submission deadline is 23rd March and outcomes will be communicated w/c 29th March.

Dr Sarah Bennett (Research Technology Facility Manager)
