Exam scanning & marking

Time effective automated marking with reduced human error
Comprehensive analysis of student performance, breakdown of results, questions and test performance

Affordances

The Optical Mark Reader (OMR) exam service offers scanning and analysis of multiple-choice exam papers using OMR technology.

This service is widely used at Warwick for data collection and automated exam marking.

By creating exams comprised of multiple choice questions, the time necessary for marking can be cut considerably with automated scanning service, which works especially well for large cohorts. If your exam currently doesn’t have multiple-choice component, think about splitting it into two parts, a knowledge and a thinking based part, and turn the knowledge-based part into multiple-choice questions.

In the academic year 2018/19 we have processed more than 15,000 exam papers helping to save academics time and to improve marking.

"I have enjoyed excellent service from the e-Assessment team for many years. I have found them to be friendly and helpful at all times. Nothing ever seems to be too much to ask of them. Each of the large UG modules that I teach has both a mid-term and an end-of-term class test, and the speed with which the e-Assessment team marks the multiple-choice answer grids, and provides statistical analyses of the results, is exemplary. I would be seriously handicapped if I could not rely on their fast turnaround service. In particular, students sitting end-of-term tests would have to wait until the vacation to receive their results. Instead, they have them within 48 hours."
