Moodle Updates

Annual Upgrade

We will be upgrading to Moodle 4.1 on 27 July 2023

This upgrade will bring significant changes to the user interface. IDG are working with our application host Co-Sector, to help deliver this new version of Moodle. The changes will include new menus that apply a more consistent approach to navigation. We expect some of these changes will take a little getting used to and we will be updating support guides, general information and links to further soon.

Moodle Maintenance on Saturday 18th February 2023

The main Warwick Moodle service (moodle.warwick.ac.ukLink opens in a new window) will be offline for most of the day on Saturday 18th February. This is due to essential maintenance, including a database update. This major work is likely to commence in the early morning and is likely to take most of the day. We will update all users via a warning notification that will be added to Moodle when final details have been confirmed.

Theme Development

Following consultation with staff and students we worked over the summer, with the help of an external agency, to develop and enhance the Moodle appearance (theme). The aim was to provide a fresher more contemporary look for our popular and well-used VLE. This update took place in early September and continues to be being fine-tuned. Accessibility

We have also added a new accessibility tool to Moodle in time for the new academic year. This tool (BlackBoard AllyLink opens in a new windowLink opens in a new window) will help to provide more support and guidance for Moodle editors related to improving the accessibility of content and resources as well as providing options for students to download content in more accessible format options.

Annual Upgrade

Warwick's central Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) Moodle underwent an annual upgrade in July 2022 from version 3.10 to version 3.11. This was part of our routine annual development activity, the overall core functionality and way that you interact with any content has not changed significantly. We expect to move to Moodle 4.1 in the summer of 2023, this will bring further anticipated benefits associated with the new Moodle 4.0+ user experience improvements.
